Welcome to NY!! I mean... NJ?

My first day in NYC was... well it was actually my first couple of hours. I took a bus at 7:00 a.m. crossed the border and everything seemed just dandy but one hour and half later I found myself stuck in a Subways. The bus had broken down so we were there for a couple of hours until a new bus arrived. Hit bad traffic before arriving to NYC but finally got there. What was supposed to be a 7 hour trip ended up taking 13 hours.

But wow, I had finally arrived to my new town. I somehow managed to take my three insanely large and heavy bags (plus laptop) and walk a couple of blocks to the Burger King where I was supposed to meet my new roommate (I had rented the apartment on line without seeing it or meeting the guy that was renting it to me before hand). He wasn't there. "I got scammed" was my first thought but I pulled over my luggage to a public phone and called the guy. A couple of minutes later we were on a bus to my new apartment.

I now live in West New York.. that's in New Jersey. Ok, I saw google maps before renting the apartment and understood that there was a division created by the west river. On one side New York on the other New Jersey but I thought things like public transportation were shared. They are not. I thought it would be about the same vibe as Brooklyn, you know, cool little shops, etc. It is not. It's New Jersey. And It's good, at least for now. Good price, awesome and spacious apartment, great new roommate, in 20 minutes I'm in Times Square and the best skyline view. I do eventually want to live in Manhattan but this works, this is good.
